Why Pennsylvania businesses must recycle electronics

The Covered Device Recycling Act
Pennsylvania’s Covered Device Recycling Act requires responsible disposal of covered devices, including desktop and laptop computers, computer peripherals, monitors, and televisions. Since January 24, 2013, these items cannot be placed in ordinary curbside trash or sent to municipal landfills.

Prevent pollution and penalties
Electronics can contain lead and other substances that may cause environmental damage if they leach into soil or water. Proper recycling helps prevent contamination, protects local ecosystems, and reduces the risk of penalties associated with improper setout or disposal.

Lower risk and recover value from end-of-life IT assets

Reduce data risk

Deleting files does not always remove the underlying information. Professional data destruction helps protect clients, employees, and your organization from breaches that could happen after equipment is disposed of.

icon
Support reuse and material recovery

Working devices and parts may qualify for refurbishment, resale, or reuse. Equipment without further value can be separated into recoverable commodities, reducing the amount of electronic waste sent for final disposal.

icon
Strengthen sustainability reporting

Our proprietary Impact Report gives your team evidence of responsible processing. This information can support internal goals, client reporting, and environmental initiatives with verifiable data.

Our Recycling Process

A secure and easy process from pickup to reporting

Our process keeps every stage clear, secure, and documented, from initial planning and pickup through data destruction, recycling, and final reporting.

secure and easy process
Plan the project icon
Plan the project
We review equipment types, quantities, service locations, security requirements, loading conditions, and timing. This lets us build a practical plan for a single office, multiple facilities, or a large technology refresh.
Pick up and track equipment icon
Pick up and track equipment
Our logistics team coordinates a convenient pickup and documents assets as they move from your site into controlled processing. Tracking helps maintain accountability throughout the project.
Destroy stored data icon
Destroy stored data
We wipe or physically destroy approved media according to the required security level. E-waste recyclers are responsible for ensuring that data is destroyed during processing, but businesses should still choose a provider that supplies verifiable records.
Evaluate equipment for reuse icon
Evaluate equipment for reuse
Eligible devices are inspected for resale or refurbishment before material recovery. This creates an opportunity to recover value while extending the useful life of technology that does not need to be dismantled.
Recycle remaining materials icon
Recycle remaining materials
Items without resale value are separated into metals, circuit boards, wiring, and plastic. Responsible processing helps conserve natural resources and keeps toxic components from entering at-risk environments.
Receive final documentation icon
Receive final documentation
You receive asset records, destruction certificates, and environmental reporting based on your service scope. These documents help your team prove that equipment was handled properly from collection through final disposition.
