E-waste has become the fastest growing waste stream in the world with an estimated 50m tons of electronic waste poisoning the environment annually. As the pace of new electronics increase so does the unmitigated growth of this waste stream.
In the U.S. the vast majority of recycled e-waste is sent overseas to developing countries jeopardizing the health of entire communities, while printed circuit boards are aggregated and sent to Asia or Europe for hazardous smelting.
UM is using technology to solve these problems.......
